A cab driver spotted nonchalantly wearing a Nazi swastika armband while on duty has been suspended, PIX11 is reporting.
The Anti-Defamation League, which received multiple complaints about the cabbie, issued a statement praising the Taxi and Limousine Commission decision to suspend the unidentified driver.
“By openly displaying this hate symbol identified with Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party while operating a New York City taxicab,” said New York Regional Director Evan R. Bernstein. “The driver sent a frightening and offensive message to New Yorkers about who might be welcome – and unwelcome – in the taxicab he was driving.”
