It is a sad day for the residents of Givat Assaf in the Binyamin Regional Council of Shomron. The community was established over a decade ago in memory of Ofra resident and terror victim Assaf Hershkowitz HY”D.

The Supreme Court a half year ago ordered the evacuation of the community, accepting proof from lawyer representing Arab land owners that the yishuv was built on privately owned land.

Despite numerous legal challenges, the clock has run down for the residentssof this and other communities in Yehuda and Shomron. Maale Rechavam, located in eastern Gush Etzion, was evacuated earlier in the day and Ramat Gilad in the Shomron Regional Council district is also slated for evacuation before Sunday Lag B’Omer, which is the deadline set by the High Court of Justice for carrying out the evictions.
