Eida Ravaad: Bennett Would Do a Mitzvah by Removing his Yarmulka

shternbEida Chareidis Ravaad HaGaon HaRav Moshe Sternbuch Shlita is calling on Bayit Yehudi leader Economy Minister Naftali Bennett to remove his yarmulke.

Rav Sternbuch stated “Bennett would do a mitzvah by removing his yarmulke. I do not have menucha day or night due to their silence regarding the awful gezeira to do away with Am Yisrael’s yichus”.

The ravaad made his remarks earlier this week in Netivot during a kenos in support of Rav Abarjil Shlita.

“It doesn’t bother me that they view us as parasites as the main thing is to sit and learn. Our main fear is not from the expressions but from the punishment” the ravaad added.

The ravaad also expressed concerns over the growing Chilul Shabbos in Eretz Yisrael today, headed by Tel Aviv, where stores are now opening on Shabbos with the support of officials.

  1. Yet another example of sinat hinam occurring during Sefirat HaOmer. Perhaps we should ask haredi pedophiles to stop wearing black hats in public.

  2. This constant sarcasm and mudslinging by both sides is not productive. At some point, there has to be some common ground if eretz yisroel is to achieve achdus and thrive. Both sides need to compromise but so far, neither side shows any flexibility. Maybe, the rav can break the cycle of recriminations and show some outreach to the other.

  3. #3 they take it off without us having to request it.
#6 there will be no achdus till mashiach comes, you’ll have to wait.

  4. Dear Number #3: When you are a talmid chacham and gadol on the same level as Harav Sternbuch then you can criticize him. Until then KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT.

  5. Rosh Cham: First of all he is the RaAVa”D. That fact alone, in all doros before this one, would have commanded the awe and respect of the masses (irregardless of existing machlokes in p’sak, minhag, hashgafah, etc.). Secondly, he has been, min ha’Shomayim, given a position of gedulah about which CHaZa”L say “mochlin lo kol avonosav.” Thirdly, this is most an issue of intelligence. This is one of total/complete mesorah to Torah.

  6. 7, Bennet is a mentch, he doesn’t respond to stupidities.
11, RAAVAD of the Badatz, is not Raavad of all the Jews.

  7. Shauli,
So he met the Satmar requirements. Do you actually believe what you are saying? Thete are plenty of very big talmidei chachomim out there who are correct most of the and wrong some of the time infAllibility is a Christian thing not Jewish, i personally don’t think his wearing a yarmulke means anything and neither does anyone else. He could wear it or not.

  8. I can mention the craziness within the Eidah Hacharedit about the supposed graves in Beit Shemesh, but that would be too easy. If the Eidah can’t get along within themselves, I’m not surprised that they say stuff about others.

Bennett has done a lot to curb Yair Lapid, and the Haredi population needs to realize that. Yair Lapid wanted criminal sanctions for draft dodgers, so Bennett gave it to him. But he made it so that the sanctions would only happen if the quota is not met, and the quota includes Dati Leumi yeshiva students, so even without legislation the quota would be met. I am pretty sure that not one student will ever go to jail when the law goes into effect.

Regarding budget cuts, I actually agree with that. Unless you are actively publishing new chiddushim (like Machon Tzomet with Tchumin), you need to support your own learning. I don’t care if your wife does it, or if you get some American donors to pay for you, but tax payers don’t need to support it. And that goes for Hiloni stuff as well.
