NY: Hudson Valley Town Approves Company’s Casino Plan

casinoA Hudson Valley town board has approved a resolution supporting the Genting Group’s plan to build a resort casino at the site of a ski center.

The Times Herald-Record in Middletown reports (http://bit.ly/1iHYMiT ) that some in the audience cheered and others walked out Monday night after the Tuxedo Town Board voted 3-2 in favor of Genting building a casino on a 238-acre property that’s home to the Tuxedo Ridge Ski Center and the New York Renaissance Faire.

Malaysia-based Genting operates the Resorts World Casino New York City at the Aqueduct Racetrack. The company wants to build a casino and two hotels in Tuxedo, located on the Rockland County border 40 miles north of New York City.

The state will select the sites of four new upstate casinos later this year.
