Back in March YWN reported that NYC Mayor de Blasio was a no-show to the COJO of Flatbush breakfast, where the Mayor was scheduled to be honored with an award. The organizers of COJO of Flatbush’s legislative breakfast insisted that the mayor had confirmed his attendance at the 35th Annual Community Legislative Breakfast in Brooklyn.

A slew of emails obtained by The Daily News under a Freedom of Information Request, has been published by the newspaper. Among the emails is the following correspondence, which shows the Mayor apologized for not attending.

On March 24, Leon Goldenberg, breakfast co-chairman, emailed de Blasio directly, asking if the rumors that he was going to be a no-show were true.

“Apologies I couldn’t make this one, Leon, but I look forward to doing many good works together with you as we go forward. Thanks – Bill,” the mayor responded by email.

Goldenberg wrote back: “When can we meet to discuss important issues to our community,” he responded. “Avi (Fink) is trying, but really my preference would be a short meeting with u.”
