Tel Aviv District Court Justice David Rosen has announced that former Jerusalem Mayor Rabbi Uri Lupoliansky will be sentenced in the Holyland real estate case independent of other defendants including co-defendant Avraham Feiner. The court called on the prosecution to request a more lenient sentence for the two, who never took funds for themselves but had the ‘bribe’ money given to charitable organizations.
The sentence of the two will be announced on June 9th after the prosecution receives a medical evaluation on Lupoliansky, who is being treated for cancer, determining his state of being vis-à-vis prison.
Unlike the two, the other defendants convicted in the case, including former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, will be sentenced together. The prosecution is seeking a 5-7 year prison term for Olmert.
