For the first time in the history of the annual International Tanach Competition, the winner hails from Canada. The winner in the Independence Day competition is Eitan Amos, and 18-year-old student of Toronto’s Yeshivat Ohr Chaim. The young winner was a resident of Karnei Shomron until moving to N. America at the age of 11, and told the audience that next year he hopes to continue his limudim in Yeshivat Maale Adumim.
In second place was a student of Tzviya Rehovot, Tefilla Berenson. On hand to present the award to the winner and first runner up was Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, who was accompanied by Education Minister Shai Piron and numerous other officials.
