  1. It used to be only Neturai Karta would do such things as rip the flag. These kids have no concept of what they are doing, just reacting to recent events. They are living as free as they are because of the state, there is zero Hakras Hatov. Its reached a point that our Gedolai Hador must speak out against such actions, otherwise it will just get worse Lo Alainu. The Gabbaim of our Gedolim should show them these pictures. These children will all be parents one day.

  2. Disgraceful!! You don’t have to agree with the government but to make such a chilul Hashem is disgusting and shameful.

  3. it’s 99% children and youth.

I remember those days as a kid in Yerushalayim In our minds then, if your father doesn’t celebrate Yom Haatzmaut, that means that it’s a day of fun by celebrating the fact that you don’t – and fun it was…

I remember one time an immodest woman passed by and I yelled out “Prutzah!” and my principle (R’ Dovid Fein Shlit”a) saw me from a window and came out and rebuked me harshly. I remember that moment as it was such a new thing to me! for the first time it occurred to me that such an action isn’t a Mitzvah!…

  4. how on earth can anyone question what the chilonim think of us!!! Mishpacha magazine, you can operate all the think tanks you want to, but you are approaching things with an American mentality of acceptance. in a climate like this, its impossible. The chilonim will never come around to see our way of life as emes or beautiful as long as we act like this.

  5. It is unfortunate that you chose the picture of the children of the eiruv ra who are mechallel shem shamyim brabim I am afraid that generations are being destroyed by a lack of kovod habrios and kovod hatorah.

The picture seems to indicate that this hatred has permeated to the foundations of the city neturai karta , satmar and bnei brak seem to be in the same boat as that town in new jersey that is taking money from satmar

  6. again, this is harmless nonsense. What isn’t nonsense are the leftists with money galore from arabs and European NGO’s who are out to destroy the state-they are VERY DANGEROUS but everyone ignores them

  7. burning a flag in a country where you live is not harmless nonsense. If you cant respect the flag, make your own government or move out!

  8. If I had the power, I would closed that so called ‘frum yeshiva’ for 30 days. They claim that they dont want to do army, public service, because they need to learn Torha .THEY ARE LEARNING HOW TO HATE THE COUNTRY THAT MAKES IT POSSIBLE FOR THEM TO LEARN TORA FREELY,that is the thank you that they are showing .SHAM ON THEM!

  9. i do want to make another point. that boy in the pic is holding up a poigniant sign. If in fact frum Jews are so distraught that they spend the day mourning the creation of the state of israel, then instead of burning flags and stoning busses, maybe they should be sitting on a shul floor in sackcloth.. just an idea….

  10. Shame on people who are organized this Hillul Hashem and sent their kids on the street (who don’t even think what they are doing). These kids think it’s fun to damage somebody’s property, destroy flags etc. I wonder if any frum person in USA would think of burning USA flag or curse a US soldier in Boro Park? And you think in Israel that is okey? The secular Zionistic kids after seeing such pictures would think if frum kids can burn their flags, why can’t they burn things that are important for frum community. And those organizers of the events on picture, instead of having those kids doing some really Hesed, maybe volunteering for elder people, or put them on some volunteer program to clean up street, or maybe a tzedoka project for sick kids. There are so many things that can a) teach these kids good things and help other Jews, and also show a true Kiddush Hashem instead of Hillul Hashem.

  11. This is a shanda and a tremendous chillil hashem. What right do you have to damage others property? All of them will get their judgement along all those who support such horrible actions

  12. Why no picture of the Israeli flag being flown from the roof of the Ponnivitz Yeshiva? I guess even on YWN “Dog Bites Man” doesn’t sell papers.

Moderators Note: Has the flag been flown on Ponevezh this year? You sure seem to have the answers already. Please enlighten us.

  13. The original settlers in the 17 and 1800’s were charedi. so they have a right to be displeased with the zionist takeover. and all of you who are going to claim that the israel before the state started was dangerous should read biographies from people who lived in the early 1900’s in israel, who can testify that the arab hatred towards jews then was sparked by the start of of the zionist movement. kol hakodem zoche

  14. Neturei Karta used to do this sort of thing. This behavior is turning off even frum people -let alone the chiloni.
ARE THE YESHIVAS SPEAKING AGAINST ALL THIS CHILUL HASHEM? THAT IS THE QUESTION. OR ARE THEY ENCOURAGING THIS.
HOW IS THIS EVER GOING TO LEAD TO GOOD?
It is becoming all too much – too much negative behavior. Too much one Jew against another.
People should recognize Israel as the gift it is from Hashem – if Hashem didn’t want it to be, it would not have been. People would have tried to make it a frum government instead of turning against it, would have made all the difference over the decades.

  15. THIS IS ” HARAM” TO SEE THEM DOING THAT WHAT ARE THEY THINKING WERES THE RESPECT FOR HOW THE GOVERMENT HELPS AND TRUST ME IM NOT A PRO GOVERMENT GUY BUT THIS IS RIDICULOUS WOULD YOU RATHER HAVE THE PALESTINIANS CONTROLLING ISRAEL ???
I DONT UNDERSTAND THE GEDOLIE YISRAEL /RAV CHAIM KANIEVESKEY RAV STEINMEN THE BELZ REBBE RAV SHALOM COHEN RAV YITZHAV YOSEF WILL BUGG OUT WHEN THEY SEE THESE PICTUREDS

  16. if this is the torah that they learn – they could probably use a few years in the army to learn some derech eretz, for apparently they have none.

  17. It is flown atop the Yeshiva every year. In a democracy both sides of any political ideology are given equal time. In a site presumably dedicated to the Yeshiva World, at least that side should get its fare share of exposure.

Moderators Note: YWN published the Ponevezh flag every year. But we have been unable to confirm that it was flown today.

  18. if you look good at the pictures you will see that there are hardly any chasidische boys there. Mainly Litvische boys. I wonder if this is the chinuch in the Ir HaToire in the litvische world!!

  19. Hey wait up here fellows

The state for the last 36 months are bashing and trying to break these youths, while I disagree to disrupting traffic. Burning the flag that is at war with them is a great way to show your distaste with the people that hate you and don’t care to see the real beauty if Judaism.

  20. NO one is saying we agree with the religous beliefs of the medina. we are saying if you live there, and take their services, teach your children to be appreciative. that poor innocent child on the top pic, doesnt even know there is something wrong with what he is doing. he is completely oblivious. and if you’re so gung ho, on learning torah then do what we do on snow days, go learn in a local beis medresh with your class…

  21. 18, you are either dishonest, or ill informed. The folks, or eirev rav you see in the pics are not likely the direct descendants, nor are they the spiritual yorshim of those early settlers. Do you mean to say, that the sheeris hapleita should have not come here, you are more clever that all those that came and transplanted their brand of Torha to here. Or are you just naive enough to think we would fare better under the Ottoman Turks, the orel Brits or today’s Arabs?

  22. Ah-these pictures are so heartwarming. Me too They make me proud to be a Frum yid because if we keep quiet we’ll end up in the gutter. What a great way to show the secular people what it means to be a Frum yid, because we the Frum Yidden stand up for the truth!!!!

  23. I find it funny that so many here are shocked and appalled. It is hardly a secret that most chareidim vehemently oppose Zionism for reasons too detailed to go into here. I find it funny that those who scream the loudest at chareidim for not respecting Zionism are the very same ones who most adamantly refuse to even acknowledge that the chareidim position deserves to be heard.

But here are the FACTS: There had been a sort of detente between the chareidim and the Zionists since 1947. The chareidim agreed to acquiesce to Zionist hegemony in return for three things: control over conversion, control over marriage and exemption from military service. The Zionists have, over the last few years, slowly but steadily reneged on their of the bargain.

While we might not agree with this specific tactic, they have every right in the world to show their disdain for the symbol of a state that lies and cheats and unilaterally breaks agreements.

  24. When Eretz Yisrael was founded 30 million(30,000,000) arabs against the 6 thousand(6,000) Jews. Why not have hodah to Hakadosh Baruch Hu that we had artzeinu hakedosh . In the year 5708 -1948 when country was founded, in the 5,708th pasuk in tanach it talks about how Hashem will return us tou the holy land
    Mi kia ch yisral

  25. To #18 The yellow star that Jew had to wear in Nazi Germany originated and had to be worn by Jews in several Arab countries, way before the Jewish State was created. Read the book “From Time Immemorial” If the Jewish State decided to move to Uganda, your Arab friends would turn Bnei Brak into a parking lot.

  26. According to Paul Johnson in his book A history of the Jews (page 204), 12th century jews living in baghdad under moslem rule had to wear yellow patches to identify themselves as jews. it seems identifying members of other religions by color coded markers was standard practice in muslim countries back them. the yellow for jews was borrowed by pope innocent iii as a way to identify jews living among catholics in the early 13th century. neither religion historically has much love or empathy for jews.

  27. ZZZZeeeeerrrrrooooo hakoras hatov. Disgusting. In the uk and USA the kids are much better brought up. Like yiden
