A Shas-sponsored kenos is going to take place in Yerushalayim on Tuesday night, the eve of the first day of Rosh Chodesh Iyar 5774 in the presence of the head of the Shas Moetzas Gedolei Hatorah HaGaon HaRav Shalom Cohen Shlita and Rishon L’Tzion HaGaon HaRav Yitzhak Yosef Shlita.
The Kenos Bnei Torah as it is being called will be held in the Yazdim Beis Medrash and it is viewed by many as a move to bring young bnei Torah closer to the party and its new leadership and to further distance those who follow HaGaon HaRav Shlomo Amar Shlita. Rav Amar on Monday called on bnei Torah to take part in a kenos for bnei Torah being held in Ashkelon. In past years he attended the Yerushalayim event as Maran’s guest of honor but now, the former Rishon L’Tzion is persona non grata among the new Shas leadership.
It must be pointed out that an annual kenos for Sephardi bnei Torah has been held in the past and attended by Maran HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef ZT”L.
MK Nissim Ze’ev told Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) that Rav Cohen berated him for taking part in a kabolas ponim for Rav Amar.

What’s with all this hatred? Why can’t we all just come together and get along? I’m not going to believe everything I read because I take everything I read on these sites with a grain of salt because many times things aren’t true or they are taken out of context. However, if this is true, why do relationships between gedolim have to be political? I hope none of this stuff is true.
