Some believe that renewed efforts to reach agreement between Fatah and Hamas is nothing more than a PA (Palestinian Authority) ploy to increase pressure on Israel. Senior Hamas official Moussa Abu Marzouk arrived in Gaza on Monday, 21 Nissan 5774 for renewed talks with Fatah officials, talks surrounding an agreement between the rival organizations that began in 2009 and was finally signed in 2011.
Some analysts feel the sudden willingness to cooperate between Fatah and Hamas is nothing more than a joint effort to signal talks between Israel and the PA have broken down, also signaling the United States that intervention is required. Experts feel that a deal between Hamas and Fatah is not a realistic option due to the realities in the organizations and the talks of renewed talks is nothing more than political posturing.
