Frum IDF Soldier Attacked in Bnei Brak By Yeshiva Bochrim

idffA frum IDF soldier who serves in Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) was attacked by delinquents on Tuesday night the eve of 23 Nissan 5774. The attack took place in the heart of the community, on Rabbi Akiva Street at about 19:00. The victim, Baruch Indig, was heading home when he was targeted. Two Bochrim handed him a flyer and before he could see what was written they shouted at him “Chardak – Get out of our City!”

Indig wrote on his Facebook page “I was standing at a stop on Rabbi Akiva Street wearing my uniform waiting for a bus to get home. Two bochrim approached me. They appeared okay and one even had a beard. They gave me a paper and while I was looking at it they shouted ‘chardak get out of our city – you embarrass Yiddishkheit”.

Indig continued, explaining he had tears in his eyes. He was pained by the response of passersby, who joined in and shouted against him. “This is the first time that I encountered such a situation, hate against a chareidi soldier. They had a look of humiliation and disrespect”.

  1. As much as this story sounds as if i could have happened as it is written here, chances are it didnt. The likelihood is this story was taken from Galey Tzahal itself which would pounce on just about anything to denouce Chareidim.

  2. Dont get me wrong, if this did happen, i denouce it with a full fist, and chances are the gedolim would agree with me…

  3. In a war you have to take sides. As President Bush said, you are either with us or you are against us. With the IDF and the Israeli government waging war against the Torah Community, you can’t sit on the fence. You are either with the Torah or with the IDF.

  4. After such incidences occurred in Jerusalem and other chareidi cities, soldiers already know better than stepping foot in chareidi areas with their non-religious uniform that Gedoley Yisrael are so against. This soldier was just out to provoke and be in the media like what they did on Chol Hamoed in Bney Brak. Wouldn’t be surprised he’s one of those who’s not even religious.

    What?I?!

This soldier was frum. Why take out frustrations on him?

I assume you observe the sefira period now; you’re obviously observing it without absorbing the lessons you’re supposed to learn from it. That’s the only reason I can fathom as to how you’d come up with this shtus.

  7. Disgusting

People should listen to what the Belzer or Gerrer Rebbe’s say about IDF Soldiers, these are yiddim who put their lives on the line for other yidden. They do the hishtadlus so others can learn. Even the Satmar Rebbe 40 years ago condemned violence against the Israeli Soldiers.

The Rabbanim need to do something about this as it is not the first time it has happened.

  8. I agree -its time Gedolei Israel say something.WE’re against drafting Yeshiva students -that’s the greatest protection this country has,but we still need to respect and PRAY for the welfare of those who serve in the IDF

  9. #9 If it’s a milchemes mitzvah against those who are out to destroy Torah and yiddishkeit, it doesn’t matter if it’s sefirah or not. Our Gedoley Yisrael said not to enlist, what chutzpah do any Jew have going against commnands of our holy Rabbis?

#10 Today it’s not like 40 years ago when mostly everyone indeed did respect them, prayed for them and were concerned about their welfare. Today, it’s a different story altogether. Firstly it’s not the same army anymore. The hair-raising immorality that goes on there was not like this 40 years ago. Secondly, today the IDF is very anti religious and are out to literally destroy Torah, yiddishkeit and Jewish homes physically. So don’t compare apples to oranges. Our Rabbanim will not do anything about it until the IDF stop their anti Torah decrees.

  10. All of you do not understand. These attacks are regular and sometimes even more severe. The gedolim should denounce this animalistic behaviour it is a tremendous chillul hashem. You should have the Yost respect for these tzadikim risking their lives for the protection of jewish lives. There is no sides of the fence, the IDF and and Torah are not at warm

  11. the headline says “…attacked by yeshiva bochrim”, but the article says “attacked by delinquents”.
good way to sell an article 🙂

  12. If the soldier is hareidi, why is he still serving in the IDF? Given that the army is on the front lines in the war with Torah world, it was hutzpah for him to “cross the lines” wearing the enemy uniform. The fact that such persons were motivated by financial consideration to join the enemy camp hardly mitigates matters. The primary threat to the survival of the Jews (the Am Torah) in Eretz Yisrael comes from the zionists, not the Palestinians.

  13. the issues get so blurred. the issue is not the Medina or the IDF or the individual soldiers. it’s the criminilization of those who choose to learn instead of serving. but we are not against those who wish to serve. rav chaim shmulevitz z’l declared that those who die protecting the Jews in Israel have a big portion in olam haba

  14. #16 At last some sense!

Rabbonim have called on people to stop enlisting; no one has said that those who already enlisted should desert.

The “IDF” is not “ant-Torah”; it is insensitive to the needs of frum soldiers and is (overwhelmingly) a non-frum environment where most people are going to find major challenges to their Yidishkeit. In a sense it’s not so different from going away to a secular college and living in the dorms (something that no one with sense would advise a frum young man to do).

There are individual officers who are anti-Torah.

The IDF is not interested in conscripting large numbers of unwilling and unsuitable soldiers. Many of these soldiers will be married with children and cost the defense budget hundreds of millions of shekels a month.

The pressure to conscript soldiers is coming from the politicians, particularly from the populist Yesh Atid party aided and abetted by Beit Yehudi. The Likud is enabling their attack on yeshivas and the kollel system.

Those who attack frum soldiers (even verbally) who joined up before the current gezeros are attacking those rabbonim who fought for Nachal Haredi and other arrangements that would allow frum young men to serve without endangering their Yiddishkeit.

so if a streimel wearing person walks down a block with know Peta member they have a right to beat him up to, I guess according to your logic.

  16. Our Gedoley Yisrael said not to enlist, what chutzpah do any Jew have going against commnands of our holy Rabbis?

The Gedolim and holy Rabbis that I follow have never said any such thing. Besides, Gedolim are human and can make mistakes.

  17. huge chillul Hashem they r putting there life on the line every second of the day so we Can sit and learn without the fear of being attacked

  18. This week’s parshas tells us that if you keep the chukim and mishpotim then the land that we were brought to won’t disgorge us.It seems to me we are looking at things the wrong way. Why are all these harsh decrees being brought on the chareidim? Not because the chilonim are causing it, we are causing it to ourselves by being the people who aren’t behaving properly in the eyes of the One Above. The chilonim are just a means to get at the chareidim but we are our own worst enemies. Sinas chinom, aroyos, loshon hora etc. We need to look at ourselves first rather then target others

  19. Discussting. Wheres their respect for their fellow jews. They should be learning and not abusing people who risk their lives for them. Especially frum yidden!!!

  20. I am appalled at the knee jerk reactions to this story. In fact I am appalled at this story altogether. Let us examine the FACTS:

What is the source of the story? Baruch Indig himself on a facebook post!(www.facebook.com/btzabari) Nothing else. (It was also repeated — and somewhat exaggerated — on the notoriously anti-chareidi site failedmessiah.com) Since when is facebook an authoritative source for anything more than smut and gossip?

And since we do not know the calibre of this person, Baruch Indig, we cannot know if this story is even the least bit true. It is not unheard of for zionists, “religious’ or not, to spread false stories in order to discredit chareidim. It is also not unheard of for them to do something to provoke chareidim so that they can point their finger and say “see how they are!”

I’m not saying that this didn’t happen. I don’t know… but neither do any of you who are jumping on the condemnation band wagon.

Lastly, to correct another assumption in some of the posts: Baruch may be religious by dati leumi standards, but he is certainly NOT chaeidi. No chareidi Jew would have pictures of immodestly dressed women on his facebook page, let alone pics of himself pressed cheek to cheek with them.

  21. Some additional information:

According to his own facebook account, Baruch has not served in Galei Tzahal for almost two tears (since September 2012). This casts even more doubt on the truth of this story.

Further perusal of his facebook account shows him posting… during pesach!! And i don’t mean on chol hamoed either!!! I also found a home made video of a woman wearing a low cut dress, singing. This is a “frum” yid?

I’m sorry friends. There is too much here to ignore and to simply accept this story at face value

  22. Whats amazing here is how all you so called frum yeshiva chareidim take our gedolim and their torah and distort their words to your own benefit…the gedolim woukd be appaled to hear you crying out in their name for your beleifs….wether he was frum or not, jewish or not, no person especially not a frum jewish person shoukd ever act like that towards anyone that initself is worse than anything the idf or any anti chareidi stands for…. the torah stands on ben odom lechavero soley and anything other than that is denouncing the entire torah in itself…so every one of you that says anything to any person in the name of torah know you yourself are worse than any of these people you claim are against you…an idf soldior is not responsable for what the governmentsays or does, nobody ever said current soldiers shoukd throw down their weapons, at the endof the day the army is a choice for each and every person on their own to decide if its for them or not…the gedolim say not to enlist or listen ti draft if its something that you dont want ti do they never once said if you want to go not to go….stop hiding behind yidishkeit if you have no idea what it even means
