Community leaders are praising the leadership at the NYPD’s 70 Precinct, after police apprehended 21-year-old Kareem Potomont, Thursday afternoon.
Cops arrested Potomont in Queens, just hours after releasing his photo to the public.
Potomont is the suspect in the shooting of 13-year-old Gamma Droiville. A stray bullet struck him in the eye as he waited for a bus on Flatbush Avenue on Monday. Droiville survived the shooting, but he may lose an eye.
Police say the intended target, a 24-year-old man, was shot in the leg. He also survived.
Community leaders spoke with YWN, who lauded the new commanding officer at the Precinct, Deputy Inspector Richard DiBlasio, Captain Anthony Sanseverino, and the Detective Squad at the Precinct, for their diligent work in quickly apprehending the suspect in this case..
Additionally, the leaders thanked the precinct for their outstanding work in ensuring that extra patrols were given to the Jewish community for the Pesach holiday, as well as traffic details on high volume streets ahead of the holiday.

Considering the age and condition of the 70 Precinct building on Lawrence Avve, it’s cruel and unusual puniishment to interigate a suspect in such a decrepit place.
