State lawmakers are taking a look at why New Yorkers pay some of the highest auto insurance rates in the nation.
Insurance industry representatives, consumer advocates and state officials tasked with regulating insurance are expected to weigh in at a legislative hearing scheduled for Thursday morning.
The hearing is intended to focus on the availability of affordable automobile insurance and the factors that contribute to high insurance costs.
Assemblyman Kevin Cahill, who leads the Assembly’s Committee on Insurance, will preside over the hearing.

Brooklyn auto insurance rates are double the costs in MANHATTAN!
Mostly because of the Russian fraudsters who create fake accidents. And NYS’s insane insurance laws that require the other party to pay costs that were not proven at fault.
I smell a tax hike to have half the state pay for auto insurance for the other half.
