Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein brought other Knesset employees with him to assist packaging foods for kimcha d’pischa run by Migdal HaEmek Chief Rabbi Yitzchok Dovid Grossman Shlita.
Rav Grossman’s operation reported that as of Tuesday afternoon 8 Nissan, over 3,000 cartons have already been distributed to those in need. Foods are collected by volunteers at branches of Shufersal and then packaged for distribution. The packages given to families cost 300 NIS each and they include grape juice, wine, chocolate spread, rice, sugar, oil, tuna, canned goods, cookies, fruits, vegetables, chicken soup, baby food and sweets.
Edelstein stated “In light of the state comptroller’s report on poverty there is a special significance to working to provide nourishment to those in need.”
Rav Grossman explains the program began locally, to the children of his Migdal Ohr program. Rav Grossman praised Edelstein and his colleagues for taking the time to assist and recognize the significance of the program.
