The daily Yisrael Hayom newspaper quotes a “senior military source” confirming that Syrian President Bashar el-Assad once again used a chemical weapon against opposition forces.
The report appearing in the Tuesday 8 Nissan 5774 edition states that on 27 March 2014, chemical weapons were used in the Harsata area of Damascus. The agent used is not lethal and not outlawed by international treaties.
Speaking to military correspondents on Monday, Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon confirmed that Assad’s chemical weaponry manufacturing abilities have been destroyed along with most of his chemical weaponry supply. “We will only know if they are hiding something in the future. 60% of the substance has already been removed from Syria”.
