NYC Mayor To Mark 100 Days In Office With Speech

debNew York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is set to mark his first 100 days in office with a major speech.

De Blasio, who was elected in November, will speak next Thursday at Cooper Union in Manhattan.

De Blasio is the former public advocate and the first Democratic mayor in 20 years.

He’s expected to outline his next set of priorities, including a push for more affordable housing

He’s spent much of his first 100 days securing funds for his signature universal pre-kindergarten program.

He wanted to raise the money with a tax on the wealthy. But that died in Albany.

Instead it will be funded in the state budget. De Blasio’s team believes securing the needed money by any means is a victory.

  1. His major accomplishment was in the area of charter schools. He managed to get the New York State Legislature and the Governor to work together, with a unity of purpose that is rare is legislative bodies in which neitehr party has absolute control. Few people could have managed to get both houses of the legislature to pass a controversial law that the governor would sign – amazing.

One of his Accomplishments that he said he’s proud of, and he’s not moving away from is, His Standing up for the State of Israel.
