BINA Stroke and Brain Injury Assistance Hosts Annual Brooklyn Reception Tonight

logo2BINA Stroke and Brain Injury Assistance, the only Jewish organization providing guidance and assistance to survivors of stroke and traumatic brain injury, will host its second annual Brooklyn reception on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at 7:15 p.m. at the Toras Emes hall at 1904 Avenue N in Brooklyn. The program will begin at 8:00 with Divrei Bracha by Rabbi Shlomo Feivel Schustal, Rosh Yeshiva Torah Temimah, followed by a gripping and moving account of the journey of a brain injury survivor. An audio-visual presentation featuring BINA families and the directors of world renowned brain injury facilities will be shown at the event.

Endorsed by leading brain injury specialists and professionals, BINA has assisted thousands of families in the United States, Canada, Israel and Europe dealing with the difficult aftermath of stroke and brain injury. BINA’s comprehensive system of referrals on rehabilitation options based on extensive research, as well as a wide array of services including case management and crisis intervention, allow brain injury survivors of all ages to access a level of care that may otherwise be unattainable.

In the words of Dr. Steven Kirshblum, Medical Director of the Kessler Institute of Rehabilitation in West Orange, NJ, “BINA helps families through the difficult process from the acute event at the hospital, finding appropriate short and long term care, resources and offering personalized support. Their hard work based upon personal experience and in-depth research offers critical assistance to the families to help navigate the difficult and unknown world that they have been presented with. Their assistance greatly impacts the individual and family for many years; I have witnessed their successes first hand…The staff at BINA has a deep understanding of the treatment options available to those patients and families trying to recover from often devastating strokes and brain injuries. And even more importantly, they do so with passion, compassion and understanding. I do not believe that there is any better or even similar type of service provided to the public.”

Brain injuries resulting from car accidents, falls, strokes, brain tumors and other neurological conditions can affect every function: walking, speech, memory, behavior, swallowing…the ripple effects on every member of the family are enormous and life-altering. With the help of concerned individuals in the community, BINA can continue and expand their services and ensure that no need goes unmet for brain injury survivors and their families.
