In an effort to meet the Pesach demand for eggs in Israel, the government has approved importing 30 million eggs from Turkey. The imported eggs will be marked with a “TR” near the expiration date on the egg.
While some of the larger egg distributors will be importing, including Glicksman, Tnuva will not be importing eggs from Turkey.
Some Ministry of Agriculture officials are not pleased with the decision, pointing out the standard in Turkey is lower than in Israel, for in the latter eggs are treated against salmonella while in Turkey this is not mandatory. The ministry explains that the coops from which the imported eggs will be supplied have been declared “clean of salmonella” by Turkish officials.

i think that instead of checking for blood, we’re now gonna have to check for chemical poisoning 🙂
How many Yidden has Pesach (b)killed(/b) with its non-stop barrage of high-cholesterol foods?
Ewwwww!
Chicken eggs only!
Eggs from Turkey sounds like a fowl idea.
Eggs from Turkey … Eggs from Turkey … Eggs from Turkey …. There’s got to be a joke in here somewhere.
Why in the world would Israel want to buy eggs from the country whose prime minister despises them? Get the eggs from someone else!

#2: I don’t know, how many?
If the top of the line talesim come from Turkey, think of how much it would be mehader mitzvah to have an egg on the Seder Plate from a Turkish Chicken. You could even display it in in the same box used for the special esrogim from Italy to be even more mehader…
