Chicago’s two international airports landed at the bottom of the U.S. Transportation Department’s ranking of on-time arrival and departures for January.
The Transportation Department’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics released figures Tuesday showing half of the flights in and out of O’Hare International and Midway International airports were late in January.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports that in a month that had several days of brutally cold weather and nearly three feet snow, O’Hare ranked last among 29 of the nation’s largest airports for on-time arrivals. Midway was second worst.
For departures, Midway was last in on-time operations, and O’Hare next to last.
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics counts a flight as “on time” if it arrived or departed a gate less than 15 minutes after its scheduled time.
