In line with previous piskei Halacha from Ashkenazi gedolei torah zt”l, HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky Shlita has announced residents of the Ramot area of Yerushalayim should observe Purim on the 15th of Adar II.
Perhaps the petira of Maran HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef ZT”L has brought the matter to the forefront as the late gadol ruled Purim should be observed on the 14th. Rav Yosef follows Maran the Beis Yosef while the Ashkenazim base the ruling on piskei halacha from gedolim including Maran HaGaon HaRav Yosef Sholom Elyashiv ZT”L and HaGaon HaRav Shlomo Zalman Auerbach ZT”L to name a few.
Rishon L’Tzion HaGaon HaRav Yitzchak Yosef recently signed his later father’s psak to send a message to Sephardim that his ruling is also that Sephardim should observe Purim on the 14th.

Must be strange having people in the same neighborhood observing Purim on two separate days.
Or incredibly festive :-). When I did my year of yeshiva in Yerushalayim Purim came out as it does this year. The result was, essentially, 4 days of Purim.
Here’s a question… my wife is spending Shabbos in Ramot with her family. We live in America, she’s only there for vacation. She’s Sephardi, but I’m Ashkenaz. Her flight back to the US is motzei Shabbos, after midnight, and won’t be back home until Sunday afternoon. What does one do?!?!!?!
a rov in one of the local kolelim published a paper making a strong case that Kever Shmuel Hanavi is indeed his kever, and that is is identifiable as the Ramot of sefer yehoshua, such that Ramot of today is nireh venismach (900 meters) to a walled city from the time of Yehoshua. That walled city is also currently being unearthed.
