This morning a large number of alerts were phoned into Shomrim dispatch by concerned citizens, and units responded rapidly.In one case, two young men were seen knocking on front doors in the Steele/Greenspring area. There was a third person in the car.
Shomrim units observed the young men, then enquired as to their business. They claimed they were trying to complete a Craigslist transaction with a homeowner who was not home.
Apparently, the craigslist seller was also not in the other homes whose doors they had tried before Shomrim approached them.But once they realized they were being watched, the young men drove around the neighborhood a while longer, stopping by the side of the road numerous times before finally driving to the other side of Northern Parkway. As far as Shomrim could tell, we had managed to deter at least one burglary.
Shomrim then met with Police at the location where the original call was placed, and we gave the police the car information, as well as sharing our photos of the young men.
A few minutes later, the police were called to a break-in on the other side of Northern Parkway, on near Wabash Avenue. By adding the information Shomrim had obtained, these very same young men were apprehended by police, and they are now in jail cells.
Police are now seeing to what extent these alleged criminals might be involved in other incidents in recent weeks, in both the City and the County.

To No. 1: Your comment is disgusting. Trayvon Martin was not engaged in any suspicious activity when he was murdered in cold blood. When the same type of tragedy happens to someone in your family, I’m sure your sarcasm will be equally valid. Yidden have been the worst victims of racial and ethnic profiling for centuries but apparently you seem to think its OK.

Get your facts strait first. George Zimmerman was doing the same thing these Shmorim were doing, that is following suspiciously looking element to protect his neighborhood from potential burglaries. In his case he was attacked and viciously bitten by a thug. Thankfully he had a gun to save his life. The jury agreed on that.
