The Jewish Press apologizes to its readers for the unfortunate op-ed article, along with its incendiary and insulting headline, regarding the Atzeres Tefilla in New York on Sunday against the drafting of yeshiva students in Israel that appeared on the Jewish Press website early Monday.
The Jewish Press website is based in Israel in order to cover breaking news from the Middle East on a 24/6 basis. The article in question was posted without authorization and approval of The Jewish Press newspaper, and the individual who wrote and posted the article on the website has been fired.
Needless to say, the sentiments expressed in the article and headline do not represent those of The Jewish Press, its officers, editors, and staff. The article was deleted from the website as soon as it was brought to the attention of the publishers and editors of the newspaper.

I wonder what all those “Jew Hating” commentators that backed that sick article are saying now!
At least they take responsibility, something that does not happen with Charedi publications.
Oh please. “The article in question was posted without authorization and approval of The Jewish Press.” Sure. And if you believe that, I’d like to sell you the Brooklyn Bridge. Don’t worry, I’ll give you a good deal.
This sort of vitriol is typical. B”H I cancelled my subscription to this rag years ago and urge others to do the same.
#1- I’m saying they realized that unless they retract the article, they will lose a lot of $.
Question to YWN- What happened to the original picture that was attached to this headline? You know, the crying puppy that was intended to mock the apology?
#3 agreed, i will not renew my subscription, it is due shortly.

To “2” i love u people they offer some phony apology and u run to. Brag. That thet accept responsibility. Like to c ur reaction if a ” chareidi” groul accepted responsibility in a similar. Manner(just being rhetorical. I no the answer)
Interesting. So how did this author manage to get his article up on the site without any prior approval?
Is the JP stating they allowed their Op-ed writers to post Op-eds at will with no prior oversight?
Not sure why they felt a need to retract except for the fear of loss of advertising dollars-
If the Dati community cared(which I doubt they do) they would compain about the retraction-
Is the Yeshiva World total removed from the world we are part of- how do they not see the huge Chilul Hashem they are creating- Forget who is right and if there should be jail time- We are living in 2014 and the news is showing JEWS are complaining that they don’t want to fight for the JEWISH state. As a jew it is hard to understand their logic but you can hear their view that they follow “das torah” blindly- No one told them about the millions who stayed in Europe too long. But to the world- If JEWS have no desire to protect their State why should they care if it is given to the arabs- The media portrays- the arabs want the land and the jews don’t.
Maybe someone here can enlighten me as to when full time learning as a whole section of society became the only thing being a jew is? Yes we can all agree there is a value in Talmud Torah but as a be all and end all that seems like a hijacking of the religion- No where in the Torah does it talk about the yeshiva system we know of today but it does talk about the capturing of Israel
The owners caved in to financial pressure (haredim pulled their ads).
As for the article itself, it basically said that the hareidi ideology that equates more time spent in a beit midrash with the ideal service of Hashem is halachically and hashkafically corrupt. In that sense, the article was 100% correct.
The real mistake of the article was that it ignored the fact that all able-bodied adult Jews who do not volunteer to help fight in Eretz Yisrael are ipso facto ignoring their brothers and letting others fight to keep Eretz Yisrael in Jewish hands and as safe as possible. It doesn’t matter if one is Hareidi, Modern Orthodox, Conservative, Reform, Reconstruction, Liberal, Secular, etc, etc.
But it is indeed exceedingly odious that any Jew would go demonstrate the “right” of Jews to not help defend Eretz Yisrael.
One last comment. An earlier article on this website described the original JP article’s title as worthy of Der Sturmer. I somehow doubt that a Nazi would speak of “other Jews” relative to himself. This is the whole point that those who are angry are missing: It angers Torah Jews like me that other Torah Jews can’t see the harm they are doing to Am Yisrael, to Torat Yisrael, and to Eretz Yisrael.
OPEN YOUR EYES, PEOPLE!
