The future of the daily Maariv newspaper appears bleak, at least the printed edition. Beginning on Sunday 7 Adar II 5774, the print edition of the newspaper will no longer exist and it is unlikely that it will be on the stands in the future. There is still talk about a print evening edition.
The newspaper has been experiencing financial difficulties and efforts to salvage the daily and weekend printed editions seem to have failed. Maariv recently united with the ailing Major Rishon, with the former leaving its legendary building in southern Tel Aviv but it appears event the fiscal recovery plan was not enough to keep the print newspaper viable.
For the time being, the NRG website continues to operate offering readers a digital version of the Maariv newspaper.
The video depicts the shutting down of the newspaper’s offices.
