Karlin-Stolin Chassidim on motzei Shabbos who are members of WhatsApp groups not only pulled out of the groups but uninstalled the application from their phones. This is the result of the Rebbe Shlita addressing “Those who belong to message groups” during his Shabbos in Betar Illit. The rebbe spent Shabbos in Betar Illit for the chanukas habayis of the chassidus’ new yeshiva ketana in the city.
According to the Ladaat report, the rebbe spoke of the messaging programs that spread loshon hora and how they are inappropriate for chassidim, instructing them to disconnect immediately.

We only disconnected from groups, we still use the program as per the rebbes instruction
so, to have whatsapp means you have a smartphone, so the rebbe is against whatsapp but not smartphones?
could be, since the Israeli Litvish world puts a charem on people with smartphones, as if the problem is the phone and not the people.
The Karlin Stolin Rebbe Shlita is highly intelligent and focused. Smartphones have never been banned in Stolin nor has there been any edict to only use “kosher” phones.
