The Movement for Quality Government (MQG) released a statement on Tuesday morning 2 Adar II 5774 calling on the attorney general to make Shula Zaken a state witness in the ongoing Holyland real estate trial involving former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.

MQG head attorney Eliad Shraga feel the state must offer Zaken immunity for her testimony against the former prime minister “For the public has a right to know once and for all regarding all the cases of corruption that Olmert was involved in, not just the Rishon Tours and Holyland cases, but the corruption in the political system over the past 30 years.”

He adds “Once and for all we have to blow up the abscess of corruption and to understand how the system worked and still works. Therefore, the prosecution has a legal and ethical obligation to make Zaken a state witness. Moreover, I suggest that they do not become complacent and believe they have Olmert in their hands. Failure to do this will lead to disastrous results for if the court acquits him the Israeli public will never know the truth”.

According to reports, Zaken and her attorney have informed State Prosecutor Shai Nissan she is willing to become a state witness against Olmert in the ongoing Holyland case and the Rishon Tours case. The deal will include a year imprisonment for Zaken.
