Finance Minister Yair Lapid, who heads the Yesh Atid party, told Channel 2 News following the atzeres that it is clear to all that the chareidim will serve in the military.
Lapid explained that after seeing such a large crowd at the event, it is abundantly clear that so many people cannot expect not to serve and they must undertake their share of the responsibility as other citizens of the country. One cannot enjoy privilege with responsibility.
Lapid proudly boasted that without his party there would be no chareidi draft law and while it is not perfect, it is a major step in the correct direction and the fulfillment of the party’s campaign promises. He added that he is not at all pleased with the standing of hesder yeshivot under the new draft law.
Lapid added that the fact that all the chareidim opposed the law is a sure sign that he did something right.
He is confident that the next generation of chareidim will not be the same as change will take time. “The main thing is to say we are not against you, no one is against you or Torah chas v’sholom, but there is an element of obligation and responsibility… I believe the sharing the burden will save the state…”
“Even Aryeh Deri must understand a tzibur this large cannot be excused from fulfilling its responsibility”

The last thing Lapid wants is to see Chareidim in the army, police, fire department, clerks, etc. etc. That will make him run away to Sweden! – He just wants to deletigimize the Chareidim socially and politically.
Zionism as a whole is against the Torah, as is this “integration” process, CH”V. The whole point is to turn Jews into Hebrew goyim, AKA Israelis. They don’t deny this.
…and what did you expect him to day? “…oh, so sorry, I realize now that I made a big mistake! …my bad!”
The Atzeres was not for him. What needed to be accomplished was accomplished even though the HaMon Am (I.E. the ignorant multitude – including religious ones) don’t understand what was accomplished.
Isn’t the YWN upside-down photo trick what led to the defeat of Ahmadinejad in the last Iranian election?
