A minor earthquake hit Israel on Tuesday night at 11:14 pm. between Jerusalem and Ariel and was felt in Jerusalem and Ariel, Bet Shemesh, Tel Aviv, Kfar Saba, Modiiin Illit, Givat Zev, Telzstone and Mevaseret Tzion, and Haifa.

The IDF’s Home Front Command confirmed that “an earthquake occurred tonight, February 7, 2023, at 11:14 p.m. Israel time with a magnitude of 3.5, 15 kilometers southeast of Ariel. An earthquake warning was not activated as it did not endanger Israeli residents.”

Was the earthquake connected to the devastating quakes in Turkey? Prof. Zohar Gvirtzman, director of the Geological Survey of Israel, told Radio 103FM on Wednesday morning that “a connection to the earthquake in Turkey cannot be ruled out but in many respects, we treat this earthquake as an independent earthquake. There may be an indirect connection.”

  1. Yisroel is overdue for a major earthquake. A lot of the older apartment complexes in Yisroel likely will collapse when it occurs.

  2. An indirect connection?? I’d call it a very direct connection, if one ascribes cataclysmic events and all natural events to the Creator.
Keep in mind, everything that occurs in this world is for the sake of Klal Yisrael, whether or not it’s obvious. It always becomes clear. A huge magnitude 7.8 and another close to it, virtually over the border — is not that enough of a warning that E”Y and anyone part of our nation should be doing some massive introspection and teshuva? That’s what we have been taught by the Chafetz Chaim and others. It’s indisputable. Whether a catastrophe חלילה occurs R”L by way of a terrorist or a collapsed bridge or a fallen tree or a train collision or a fire or an icy car pileup in a blizzard, a hurricane, or an earthquake, it’s all from Hashem. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION.
