Israel continues to experience powerful winds of up to 100 km per hour, heavy rainfall and almost-freezing temperatures on the second day of Storm Barbara.
Light snow fell in northern Israel and some parts of Gush Etzion and heavy snow fell in the northern Ramat HaGaolon. Due to the heavy snow, Har Hermon will be closed to visitors until at least Thursday due to the extreme weather conditions.
A rare phenomenon occurred at the Tel Aviv port area when foam accumulated in the area due to the turbulence in the sea spurred by the powerful winds.
An 11-year-old Chareidi boy, Malachi Shapira, was seriously injured after being knocked unconscious by a falling tree in the town of Tel Mond in central Israel on Monday.
His condition is still serious on Tuesday. His family has asked that the public daven for the refuah sheleimah of Malachi ben Reut b’toch shaar cholei Yisrael.
A 13-year-old girl was lightly injured – also from a falling tree – in Ohr Yehudah, and two others were injured in Netanya and Tel Aviv due to the powerful winds.
Rain and snow are expected to continue falling on Tuesday night and Wednesday, with the rain and strong winds expected to slightly subside in the afternoon hours. On Thursday, light rain will continue to fall and temperatures will remain low.

While I understand that sometimes it’s interesting or even beneficial to specify if a post is about a Chareidi, I don’t see why it has to be specified in this post. Should we not daven for an injured Jewish child no matter if he is Chareidi or not? It shouldn’t make us daven any harder knowing that the child is Chareidi. May he have a refuah shleima and grow up to bring much nachas to his family and all of Klal Yisroe.
