MK (Labor) Eitan Cabel told Channel 2 News that the current Shaked Committee draft law is not a good one, basically calling it a waste.
Cabel explains that drafting chareidim in their 20s is not a desirable situation, and it is simply too expensive. He explained many if not most of the inductees will be married by the time they begin their military service and the cost to the IDF and the nation is astronomical. Cabel feels the Shaked Committee has failed and the new law does not represent equality or serving the needs of the IDF and the nation.
In response Deputy Finance Minister (Yesh Atid) Mickey Levy feels in the coming years, following the three-year transition, most chareidim will be serving far younger and the law will prove itself. Levy also attacked Cabel for disqualifying the merit of the new law, telling him “your party was not successful in advancing anything.”
