According to Channel 2 TV News, over 2,000 buses are expected to arrive in the capital. Hundreds are still on their way at this time, about a half hour before the atzeres is scheduled to begin. While the event is being labeled the Million Man Atzeres, the number present in the area of the atzeres is far less.
Unfortunately, it is being reported that traffic on the Jerusalem-Tel Aviv Highway has come to a standstill. Waze has sent out an alert to persons with the app that that highway and the capital are locked up as a result of the atzeres.
Police report Highway 1 was closed to private vehicles from Latrun to the capital since 14:00. However, 443 and Hwy 1 are bumper to bumper and traffic cams show parking lots of buses seeking to bring mispallalim to the atzeres. The same picture is seen in Yerushalayim as major vehicular routes have come to a standstill.
Elsewhere in pre-atzeres news, two young men decided to come to the atzeres area and begin protesting against it, calling for everyone to serve in the IDF. Someone sprayed them in their faces with pepper spray. They were treated by EMS personnel.
Elsewhere in Yerushalayim, chareidim burned tires at the entrance to the capital from Route 9 as well as on Herzl Street. Fire department officials responded. No injuries were reported.
