The organization calling itself the Union of Kehilla Rabbonim (איגוד רבני הקהילות) headed by Tzfas Chief Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu Shlita has cancelled its planned participation in the Million Man Atzeres in Yerushalayim. Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu is the president of the union which includes over 100 rabbonim around Israel.
The statement reads that the rabbonim and kehillos planned to attend the atzeres under the banner “כבוד לתורה וכבוד למדינה” but this has changed. They explain that following the harsh words targeting rabbonim in the dati leumi community in the Sunday morning Yated Neeman, they have decided to cancel their participation.
The newspaper launched an attack against HaGaon HaRav Chaim Druckman Shlita, a senior posek in that community.
“We will not ignore when talmidei chachamim are insulted with expressions that lack respect for their positions and for them personally” Rabbi Amichai Eliyahu, CEO of the union is quoted in the dati leumi media saying.
Rabbi Amichai Eliyahu adds “Our intention was to participate in the atzeres in response to the insult to Torah, but will cannot accept insults against talmidei chachamim in the name of kovod Hatorah. Rav Druckman Shlita is mamosh among the gedolei yisrael and even Yated Neeman must respect this. T הפה שאסר לא יהפוך לפה שיתיר and kovod Hatorah is first and foremost the honor of talmidei chachamim.”
However, the president of the organization, Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu is going to attend.
It appears Yated’s attack on Rav Druckman has led to a number of hesder rabbonim canceling as well.

Did they cancel their instruction to vote when Bennet insulted Rabbonim? – they are not cancelling for “Kavod Hatorah” but for the Kavod of thir own, of their position. – The truth hurts the most..
The objection by the DL to the chareidim predated a simple slight in a newspaper. But I don’t understand why. Why can’t the DL just get along with the chareidim? So they’re willing to go into the Army and the others aren’t…so what?
Sounds like a joke , they want kovod talmidei chachumim , the government wants to make sure there are no talmidei chachomim , so you stand with such a government and scream kovod talmidei chachomim, that common sense is not seichel brosh.
Does any1 know if the Satmar Rebbe Reb Aron is still in Israel & if he went
This is what happens when you mix, as Rav Elchonon wrote, (Zionism) A”Z with lihavdil Yahadus. Zionism is simply forbidden even if you graft the Torah on to it.
Given the escalating chilul Hashem that is Zionism and the State of Israel and its policies, I would think that “biMakom chilul Hashem ain cholkim kavod…” would apply here.
HaKatan, you are wrong!
So they canceled their attendance in an official manner and attended as individual yidden. I think this was a genius move. On the one hand they preserved the honor of this rabbi that was apparently insulted and on the other hand they were able to attend and show respect to charreidi rabbonim. Rav Shmuels brother is Chareidi and Rav Mordechai Eliyahu ztzls kollel trains blackhat rabbonim. He is a huge tzaddik and we are lucky his Tefillos were included in the atzeres.
