Ichud Hatzalah and ZAKA have completed preparations for the Million Man Atzeres to take place on Sunday, 1 Rosh Chodesh Adar II 5774. ZAKA will be handling the station for lost children, as the new united body of the two organizations will address pre-hospital medical care, lost children and other urgent situations associated with events involving the masses.
Anyone with a medical emergency should call 1221. One may also call 101 for Magen David Adom, which will also be present in large numbers. The organizations will provide EMTs, paramedics and physicians. For a lost child, ZAKA’s number is 1220.
Ichud reports that hundreds of EMTs and paramedics will be on hand, along with a sizable fleet of ambucycles in the hope of being able to get around somewhat to reach patients. It is expected to be unseasonably hot, close to 80F and participants are urged to bring water to the event, at least one bottle per participant.
Parents sending small children are urged to place identification information on them, either in a pocket or around a child’s neck to if the child is lost a parent can be contacted.
Ichud Hatzalah has a command center aside Israel Police in Binyanei Ha’uma as well as a command center inside a bus, permitting it to be repositioned if and when the need arises. The organization also paid to hang signs on high poles and traffic signals with its emergency number so anyone seeking assistance can look up and see the number to call if an emergency arises.
Each team operating in the crowd is also equipped with a stretcher, permitting them to place the person supine and carry him/her to a waiting ambulance. There are also stations such as Binyanei Ha’uma at which ambulances will remain ‘ready’ to transport a patient to a city hospital.
