Rav Shteinman Shlita Speaks of the Chilul Hashem

shtIn his words to the rabbonim shlita attending the joint Moetzas Gedolei Yisrael kenos in Bnei Brak, Maran HaGaon HaRav Aaron Yehuda Leib Shteinman Shlita explained there are three extremely serious aveiros, עבודה זרה גילוי עריות ושפיכות דמים, but the severity of Chilul Hashem is worse! This, the gadol hador explained is what the Government of Israel is doing, causing a horrific Chilul Hashem.

In his comments to the forum, the Vishnitzer Rebbe called for achdus among all rabbonim regarding a unified call to the tzibur not to report to any induction center, quoting the pasuk “ויחן שם ישראל כנגד ההר”, with Rashi explaining “כאיש אחד – בלב אחד”.

The rebbe stressed that only with achdus of the rabbonim shlita can there be success in sending the message not to report to IDF induction centers.

Shas HaGaon HaRav Shalom Cohen Shlita broke down in tears as he described his fears regarding Sephardi talmidim, who he feels will bear the brunt of the government’s efforts to draft talmidim. Rav Cohen concluded. The decision is there is no IDF, there is nothing. I am uninterested in their money, what interests me is only Torah”.

  1. I believe our gedolim understand the importance of what is going on. At this point it would be very hard for the hilonim to back down and return to the former status quo of almost all hareidim being exempt from conscription. For both the frum (and that includes the Religious Zionists) and secular, it is the end of an era, but most of them don’t “get it” – in fact most of “us” don’t fully appreciate what is happening. The existence of the frum community of Eretz Yisrael, and the existence of the zionist state, are on the line. The world as we know it is about to end.

Israel has never had significant draft resistance. The zionist “narrative” that Jewish law and tradition mandated and justified the war to take Eretz Yisrael from the goyim has never been openly challenged (other than in whispers in safe places as if the Torah alternative was a deep secret). For 90 years (since De Haan was murdered) the hareidim have been content to strive for autonomy and self-preservation, and the zionists were content to ignore them and leave them alone. Everything settled is about to become unsettled.

An analogy in the goyim’s history is July of 1914. Most people looked at the situation and saw only a lot of posturing and shouting about a very minor archduke having been killed by terrorists. Only a handful were perceptive enough to see that the “proud tower” of European civilization was about to fall down in a catastropic mess that over the next century would totally reshape the world in ways that no one could have predicted.

Our gedolim by their actions perceive a pending revolution that may end well, but then again, may end very poorly.

  2. Mr Kuperman- I assume you have derech eretz for the Gedolim. What do you think the position of the Gedolim is, regarding a person who sits by a computer all day, learns nary a word of Torah and comments on the happenings in E”Y?

    please, stop attacking people!!!

If you have an opinion and it’s not against the Torah feel free and say it, but to make fun of someone,?

Does learning Torah teach you to make fun of someone CV

    YWN
What right do you have to print someone making fun of someone else?

  4. One of the great things being discussed now is what is a haredi. I saw the definitions and based on what i am seeing we have no Harefim in Chul. Wow! I know a lot of people who will be disenfranchised. I wonder if our netura karta guy here meets the haredi criteria of Shai Peron.

  5. #5- If you define “hareidi” based on clothes, well, many hareidi wear western clothes. If you base it on serving in the army, be definition no hareidi ever would be in the army. If you say “would follow halacha (according to his posek) even if it conflicts with Israeli government laws and policies” then much of Bayit Yehudi would be hareidi.

Perhaps one could define it as any Shomer Mitsvos that Shai Person dislikes?
