As portions of N. America are unable to dig out of a never-ending winter, and as flood waters pound areas of Europe, in Eretz Yisrael tefilos continue as the nation is experiencing a severe drought R”L.
In New York City meteorologists announced that 57 inches of snowfall have already accumulated in Central Park in the winter of 2014, more than twice the annual average, while in Eretz Yisrael, in the sixth year of the shemittah cycle, the land remains dry. Farmers are more than concerned as are water experts, for together the nation watches as the Kinneret drops day-by-day.
For those who ‘get it’ the political events unfolding do play a role, as does growing machlokes in the various camps and there can be no doubt this is a time for sincere tefilos and teshuvah.
The weather forecast for the coming days speaks of rain on Sunday 23 Adar I God willing, but that is all, with the experts stating “there is no winter weather pattern in sight through the end of February.”

CALIFORNIA too has a three year drought so far. Our Weather pattern is almost always the same as Israel. We pray for rain in both places.
The US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration complied worldwide temperature data for January and reported that it was the fourth warmest January since records began in 1880. Almost the entire world with the exception of eastern North America experienced unusually high temperatures.
