In her address to Knesset on Tuesday 18 Adar I 5774, MK (Yesh Atid) Dr. Adi Kohl addressed the forum in her capacity as the Chairwoman of the Public Petitions Committee, citing complaints that interviews for law students seeking an internship have been set for Shabbos. Kohl explains that due to the reforms the interviews may only be conducted from March 15, 2014, which falls on a Shabbos. She wishes to do away with this practice, fearing that doing so will discriminate against an entire community.
There are many many members of the dati leumi community attending law school. She added that this year it falls on erev Purim as well, which will only add to difficulties for the religious community. Kohl sent a request to many large law firms urging them to refrain from conducting interviews on Shabbos.
