Meretz party leader MK Zahava Gal-On is not a fan of the new draft law, which she calls “a major farce and embarrassment that any connection to equality it carries is coincidental at best”.
In her post she writes “The worst TV series I ever saw is back with another episode that is quite depressing. You voted Lapid and got Bennett, this time sharing the burden.”
“Lapid ran for Knesset under the sharing the burden flag and now, we cannot believe a word that comes out of his mouth. What does the law give us? IDF service for women has been extended. Chareidim will not be inducted until at least 2017. And the record-breaking is hesder talmidim have to serve an additional month, from 16 to 17 months all the while the economy will pay them millions for the talmidei yeshiva”.
She attacks Lapid for blowing it, for not using this unique opportunity to finally bring hesder to par with the others, to compel them to serve the same as other soldiers and “once and for all to eliminate the preference that seems to have been born in sin”.
“The only way to bring hesder to equality is to stop the games and to accept the Meretz solution calling for mandatory military of civilian service for all Israeli citizens, men and women, to compel everyone to do their share and give to the state”.

Ha! Meretz is one to talk!
They won a some seats a few years ago and then when it came to support the Meretz agenda on which it ran it totally failed as the reps in the knesset, wanting to keep their perks, kept voting with the government against their own agenda. The result was that no one voted for them after that and they last their seats.
what would Meretz say about not conscripting arabs
absolutely nothing
Who cares what Meretz says? They have become an insignificant splinter party with absolutely NO influence. true, at one time (ancient history) they held sway over the “piece” process, but the voters have thoroughly rejected their extreme ideas.
