Hadassah Medical Organization employees at both the Mount Scopus and Ein Kerem Hospitals continued their strike on Monday. Labor leaders on Monday morning, 17 Adar I 5774, announced that they will be operating on “emergency mode”, which are fewer personnel than Shabbos mode. The situation in the hospitals for patients is an extremely difficult one.
Employees plan to get their message out as they plan to hold protests at Safra Square (City Hall) and the Cord’s Bridge near the Jerusalem Convention Center. Dozens of employees began the day with a protest outside the home of Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat.
There are reports that many or most employees will receive additional portions of their salaries on Monday but this does not appear to be preventing a 16th day of striking as labor officials have stated the strike will continue until all employees receive all of the money that they are owed. Many employees received only half of their salaries in January 2014.
