TRI-STATE WEATHER ALERT: Forecasters Boost Projected Snow Totals for Tuesday Storm

nycsThe following is via NBC New York:

Yet another winter storm is set to push over the tri-state Tuesday and could add 3 to 6 more inches to what is already the third-snowiest February ever recorded in New York City, forecasters say.

After a chilly Presidents Day with highs below the freezing mark, a snowstorm will move in early Tuesday, forecasters say. Wet, sloppy snow will begin falling before the morning rush and is expected to continue into the early afternoon.

About 3 to 6 inches are expected in New York City and nearby suburbs — an increase from earlier projections — while 6 inches or more may fall in northern New Jersey and the Hudson Valley. One to 2 inches are expected along the Jersey coastline and on the south shore of Long Island.

Meteorologists caution the track of the storm is very fluid, and storm projections may shift as the system moves closer.
