While Israeli leaders continue to insist on PA (Palestinian Authority) recognition of Israel as part of a peace agreement, former Mossad Intelligence Agency Director Meir Dagan feels “it is nonsense”.
Speaking to a closed forum in Tel Aviv this week, Dagan stated that PA recognition of Israel as the Jewish state is meaningless, and as such it should not be a prerequisite to a peace agreement. He explained the United Nations ruled as it did in 1947 and that ruling says Israel is the Jewish nation, so there is no reason for additional recognition by the PA.
“We are seeking recognition for our nation from a nation that does not yet exist” he concluded.
