The Jerusalem District Court on Tuesday, 11 Adar I 5774 granted the 90-day stay of proceedings for Hadassah. Hadassah administrators are instructed to use the time period to draft the medical center’s recovery plan.
In addition, the government is giving Hadassah a 50 million NIS grant and Hadassah Women in the USA is adding an additional 50 million NIS.
What is now clear as a result of the hearing is that most of the hospital’s 1.3 billion NIS debt, 917 million NIS to be exact, is owed to hospital employees.
Employees seem to be calming down somewhat in light of the court’s ruling and the limited aid from Hadassah Women and the government, and it is now about cutting and downsizing to see if the nation’s major medical center and teaching hospital is prepared to take the necessary belt-tightening steps to remain solvent.
