A meeting was held last week in Modi’in Illit attended by Yahadut Hatorah MKs Moshe Gafne, Yaakov Asher and Uri Maklev in addition to local municipality official Rabbi Menachem Shapira, Deputy Mayor Mordechai Goldberg, and Modi’in Illit Degel councilmen.
They began the tour of the area at Yeshivas Chemdas Moshe and then visited Mir Brachfeld. The visit included meeting with Mir Roshei Yeshiva HaGaon HaRav Aryeh Finkel Shlita, HaGaon HaRav Noam Alon Shlita and HaGaon HaRav Tzvi Pertzovitz.
They then met with Rav Finkel privately, discussing the new chareidi draft law and other pertinent issues facing the Torah tzibur today. “We must increase limud and tefilos to prevent the harsh gezeiros” Rav Finkel is quoted telling his guests. The rosh yeshiva also gave a bracha to Degel city councilmen, praising them for their tireless efforts on behalf of the tzibur.
The delegation then took leave of the rosh yeshiva, visiting other schools and mosdos in the city.

These are moderates who have no problem working with and being part of the State of Israel – but not if the medinah expects them to give up Torah in order to be part of the modern medinah.
