New York City’s sanitation commissioner says some secondary streets still need plowing but overall snow removal was going well.
Around 6 inches of snow are expected in parts of the metropolitan area on Wednesday.
Commissioner John Doherty says roads were not freezing and that was “a big help.” But he says the big question is whether “it will ice up” later in the day.
He spoke to Fox News “Good Morning NY.”
He says it’s slippery in places and pedestrians and motorists should be careful about black ice.
Wednesday’s snow is the city’s third this season. Doherty says the city will “no doubt” go over its snow budget but that won’t dictate how it handles a storm.

I think he is in la la land. I traveled up to the Poconos on monday during the storm. The roads in ny were terrible nothing was plowed and there were no plow trucks in sight. As soon as I crossed the GWB, the roads were cleared of snow, and the plow trucks were cleaning the snow non stop. The same was true last night when I returned, there was no snow on any roads anywhere because they were properly plowed; until we got back into the city. Snow was everywhere. What a poor job. We have an incompetent mayor!! To call this successful is shameful.
