NYC: Latest Storm News Roundup

nycsMayor Bill de Blasio says the snow is very wet and heavy and New Yorkers should not take it lightly.

He quipped: “hire your local teenager” to help shovel the snow — a reference to his son Dante.

But he said Dante would be going to school because public schools remained open Wednesday despite the snow.

The mayor made his comments to a reporter for Fox “Good Day NY” while shoveling the walk in front of his Brooklyn home.

De Blasio also urged New Yorkers to leave their cars at home and use mass transit.

New York City’s alternate side parking regulations are suspended Wednesday because of the weather.

They already had been suspended Monday and Tuesday.

Drivers still have to pay the parking meters.

New York City is reminding residents that they can now track the progress of snowplows online.

The city’s Office of Emergency Management has issued a hazardous travel advisory for Wednesday.

Major roads are cleared first.

The plow tracker is available on the city’s “severe weather” page.
