Jerusalem Mayor Under Pressure to Oppose Rav Eliyahu for City Rabbanut

elyaThe leftists succeeded in ousting Tzfas Chief Sephardi Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu from the Chief Rabbinate of Israel race, and are now doing the same to oust him from the race for new chief rabbis of the capital.

The “Price Tag Forum” sent a letter to Mayor Nir Barkat explaining the chief rabbi of Israel’s capital must be an image who promotes tolerance and peace among residents and not one who stirs controversy. They call upon the mayor not to endorse Rav Eliyahu’s candidacy, citing over recent years he has disqualified entire population segments of the country and has exhibited racist policies against Arabs in his ruling forbidding residents of his city from selling or renting homes to Arabs.

The letter continues along the same lines, concluding

“במקום שיש חילול השם – אין חולקים כבוד לרב”

  1. Rav Eliyahu is a great choice and the entire “price tag” groupies are left-wing activists who imagine and orchestra Arab attacks and then name them settler price tag incidents.
