Deputy Minister of Religious Services Rabbi Eli Ben-Dahan admits there were many failures in the dati leumi camp regarding the election of Israel’s new chief rabbis.
Rav Ben-Dahan blames the rabbonim of his community, citing their failure to unite led to the defeat. Rabbi Ben-Dahan was speaking to a dati leumi forum in the Dead Sea, telling them the Bayit Yehudi party is also to blame in part for too many were afraid to speak their minds and express an opinion. “We failed in the Chief Rabbinate elections because none of the candidates had the courage to announce he was pulling out of the race” the deputy minister told his audience.
He added the party is absolutely opposed to a situation that would leave Jews living under PA (Palestinian Authority) rule following an agreement, adding the party never imagined anyone would even propose such a bizarre option.
“All statements uttered on this option are grounds for dismissal or to the leave the government” adding “we are not beholden to anyone, especially on the political process but when we have criticism, it will be stated in a proper respectable fashion.”

B’H for the Hashgocho Perotis which has led to the 2 excellent Chief Rabbonim whom we have been Zochim to receive for the upcoming Decade.
As long as we look at other religious Jews as “Us” and “Them” we are in a loosing battle. Sinat Chinum destroyed the Beit HaMikdash, ONLY Ahavat Chinam will restore it. “We” failed in the Chief Rabbinate… implies divisiveness. 🙁
