NYC Councilman Wants Storm Hearings

nycsA New York City councilman is looking to investigate the city’s snow-removal performance during this week’s storm.

Vincent Ignizio, from Staten Island, wants to hold oversight hearings. Many New Yorkers griped that the streets in their neighborhoods were not effectively plowed.

Mayor Bill de Blasio, a Democrat, initially defended his administration’s performance. He later changed his mind after touring one neighborhood, Manhattan’s Upper East Side, where there had been scores of complaints.

He repeated on Thursday that he was “not satisfied with the response.”

It was not immediately known when the city council oversight hearings would be held. Similar hearings were held in the aftermath of the city’s response to a blizzard in 2010.

Ignizio is one of the council’s three Republicans and its minority leader.
