MK (Bayit Yehudi) Orit Struk came under fire in Knesset earlier this week for her public comments following the death of former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, stating he was “one of Israel’s greatest builders and its greatest destroyer”. Needless to say her derogatory remarks angered many lawmakers who feel one may not speak negatively about the late prime minister and war hero. Further agitating some, Struk expressed gratitude “that Sharon was taken from public life”, before he could carry out another expulsion in areas of Yehuda and Shomron. She clarified her comments, stating she is not happy Sharon died, but she is happy he was out of the political arena.
Among the outspoken critics was party leader Minister Naftali Bennett, who felt the comments were inappropriate, especially during the mourning period for the late prime minister. Bennett prefers to remember Sharon as a great commander, for the Bayit Yehudi leader was an officer in the IDF’s elite Sayeret Matkal reconnaissance unit.
Struk did apologize for the timing of her remarks, conceding she should have waited until a number of days after the levaya but she is unwilling to apologize for the content of her comments.

Let all the lefties apologize for all their insulting remarks
It makes no sense to live in Gush Katif. It is questionable if it even hS kedushas haaretz. It is not contiguos to Israel proper and living there puts the lives of children and soldiers at risk. If Sharon made a mistake it was the failure to keep a military presence on the strip. Settelments do not provide security nor should they. Securiy is the job of Army and police. Settelments create hatred and harm Israel internationally.
#2- Ariel Sharon encouraged settlements precisely for security. You seem to be one of the only people left who believe that leaving Gush Katif was a good thing. Rockets in the thousands is very good for security, I suppose. (Not to mention the fact that the arabs learned a very important lesson. If you attack enough times, Israel will turn tail and run).
Anyone with any sense knows what will happen if settlements in the Shomron are abandoned C”V.
