After a delay of many years, Housing Minister (Bayit Yehudi) Uri Ariel on Wednesday 21 Shevat 5774 signed the necessary papers for the Achisemach Project to move forward.
The ceremony was held in the minister’s office and the signing gives a green light for the construction of 3,000 chareidi sector apartments in the Lod area project. Also present for the signing was Lod Mayor Yair Rabibo, deputy mayors and city councilmen.
The project involves the ministry, Lod City Hall and the Israel Lands Administration as well as the Vaad Chareidi that is looking out for the interests of its tzibur. The vaad’s head R’ Tzvi Cohen, reminded those present that the project was initiated by Rabbi Micha Rothschild, who is in need of tefilos for a refuah shleima.
Ariel called it “a holiday for chareidim after 13 years of delays we have approved 3,000 housing units for the chareidi tzibur in the center of the country, offering realistic pricing. We will continue to work to alleviate the housing shortage in the chareidi community”.
