Border police following protocol ordered an Arab male who was running towards their position in the Southern Hebron Hills to halt. The feared terrorist was running towards the sentry post at the entrance to the border police base near Yishuv Telem early Monday afternoon, 19 Shevat 5774. Soldiers shouted “halt” in Hebrew and Arabic yet the approaching male ignored them.

The assailant then turned around and began running towards a soldier shouting in Arabic. In line with protocol a soldier fired a warning shot into the air. When the attacker continued a shot was directed at him, striking him in the abdomen. He was treated by IDF medical personnel and transported to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Yerushalayim. B’chasdei Hashem, there are no reports of injuries among border police.
