Gag Order Lifted: Rav Pinto Case Explodes

pinWith the canceling of the gag order prohibiting the release of details in the case against Rabbi Yoshiyahu Pinto, the rav’s attorneys on Tu B’Shevat 5774 released information that has brought the case back into the headline news. A number of media agencies turned to the Jerusalem Magistrate Court requesting the removal of the media blackout order. The court granted the request due to the “sever scandal” that has involved Israel Police, and the public’s right to know.

According to the latest allegations, the commander of the Israel Police Lahav 433 Unit, viewed by many as Israel’s FBI, accepted bribe money from Rabbi Pinto. Israel Radio reported Thursday morning that Commander Menashe Arbiv met on Wednesday night with Police Chief Yochanan Danino, and it was decided the senior commander will take a leave of absence pending the outcome of the investigation.

It is now known that Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein and State Prosecutor Shai Nitzan received evidence in recent weeks pointing to Arbiv’s involvement in the case, possibly a recipient of bribes from the rabbi’s people. There is also a media buzz pointing to additional senior officers in the police department who may have received bribes or favors from the rabbi in one form or another.

  1. This case has nothing to do with pinto being guilty or innocent. It is a real explosion. Connection Rep Michael Grimm an investigation into him with Pinto knowing stuff and the american FBI wanting information about that so they involved israeli police to put a libelous claim out on pinto so he should surrender all his knowledge about grimm. This is a setup so that pinto can help the FBI indict grimm. The israeli police though cooperated and allowed themselves to be bribed by the FBI.

  2. I don’t see anyone saying he is not a tzadik .it sounds like he is human and might have made a mistake which we all know the famous statement ” there is no righteous person who has not made a mistake ” , and as a community everyone has to be held to the same standards when a mistake is made otherwise what lesson are we teaching out children!! I would say the bigger the person the bigger the mistake since its a much bigger CHILULL HASHEM!!!!!!
